Nico Rosberg: Why Oversteer is Fast

What is Nico Rosberg's driving style?

It is a Smooth but occasionally Aggressive Oversteer driving style. This is why.


Nico Rosberg was the 2016 World Champion driving for Mercedes. He is also the son of Keke Rosberg, who was known for his rally-like aggressive driving style. Rosberg had an aggressive driving style early in his GP2 and F3 days. However, the F1 cars of the late 2000s required smooth inputs to get the most out of the tyres. Rosberg had to adapt to this, but still preferred an oversteery setup. As he said in an interview with Whichcar “with understeer, you have to wait and wait and wait and wait until the car drives around the corner. Whereas with oversteer … it’s just the fastest way.”.
